Chelle’s Romantasy Recommendations

We’ve shared some books before that we’d recommend to those who are just starting their romantasy adventure but this one is slightly different - I thought I’d share with you some of my favourite romantasy reads and the ones I’d recommend to new and experienced alike!

I recommend so many books all the time but the ones I’ll share with you today are the ‘default’ ones - the ones I’m sure everyone and anyone would love to read.

ACOTAR, Sarah J Maas

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas
Average Goodreads Rating: 4.19

Okay, so let’s start with the obvious. The ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ series is a work of art. It is a stunning romantasy with characters to die for, a storyline to keep you intrigued and fan theories that will have you head spinning like a tornado.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber
Average GoodReads Rating: 3.98

‘Caraval’ was one of the first romantasy books I ever read and I fell hook, line and sinker for it. This book, and it’s sequels, is nothing short of a magical escapism. With a twisted game, inside a place called ‘Caraval’ and you can’t trust anyone, or even yourself? Sign me up.

From Blood and Ash, Jennifer L Armentrout

From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Average Goodreads Rating: 4.23

So I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t bring up the ‘From Blood and Ash’ series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. This series is my heart and soul. Filled with romantic tension, spice (a little in book 1 but then they heat up..) and wonderful characters who just crawl under your skin and live with you forever? Yes. ‘From Blood and Ash’ is forever.

Fourth Wing, Rebecca Yarros

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
Average Goodreads Rating: 4.58!!

This book…. it blew my socks off. Filled with incredible characters, tension, spice, betrayal and DRAGONS! What else could you want?! Also, this book spoke to me in a personal way because our FMC, Violet, lives with hypermobility which I also live with and I felt seen!! This book holds a special place in my heart.

Once Upon a Broken Heart, Stephanie Garber

Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber
Average Goodreads Rating: 4.07

I don’t think Luna would ever forgive me if I didn’t list this series so it’s fortunate that it is in fact a series I would recommend, especially after reading the ‘Caraval’ trilogy. Our lovable rogue, Jacks, teams up with our stunningly beautiful Evangeline in a new trilogy in the same fantasy world of Caraval. Yes, more magical escapism.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas
Average Goodreads Rating: 4.18

It’s difficult to come across a series of 8 books that are all FANTASTIC! So yes, the ‘Throne of Glass’ series holds the award for the best series (over 5 books) that I’ve ever read. Seriously impressive characters, a storyline that grips you, tension that stops your breath – this is the best series you’ll ever read, but just a warning, there will be tears. Just make sure you have a tissue next to you – don’t say I didn’t warn you!
